Elaine Desmond is a full-time writer based in Ireland. She has a doctorate in Sociology and has had a variety of careers - she built and ran a restaurant in New Zealand with friends, worked in Logistics in Switzerland and the UK, sold advertising space in Ireland’s top food magazine, lectured in Sociology and spent a year as a social researcher in India. She has a number of academic publications, including a book entitled Legitimation in a World at Risk. Elaine has been shortlisted for both the Bridport and Fish Short Story Prizes and took second prize at the Wexford Literary Festival Colm Toibin award in 2019. She is currently completing a short story collection entitled View from the Outside. This is based on her travels and is due out in 2020.
